HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 1, 2004)-Laura Henderson, M.D. has joined the Smithsburg Family Medical Center practice and is accepting new patients. She treats both internal medicine and pediatric patients.

Dr. Henderson is a graduate of Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit. She completed residencies in both pediatrics and internal medicine at The Detroit Medical Center in Michigan, where she was chief resident her final year.

Dr. Henderson participated in a special program to reduce communication barriers between Hispanic patients and their doctors. During the program, she learned medical Spanish and now can converse in Spanish with her patients. She also has a special interest in young adult public health and has participated in numerous initiatives for children and teens.
