Local EMS to be Recognized at Annual Awards Banquet

5/7/2004

The third annual EMS Awards Banquet sponsored by Washington County Hospital and Washington County Emergency Medicine Physicians, LLC will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, at the Four Points Sheraton in Hagerstown.

The banquet was established to recognize the local Emergency Medical Services personnel who deliver lifesaving emergency care, 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.

Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., and the awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

This year, provider awards will be presented to the EMT of the Year, CRT of the Year, Paramedic of the Year, and Dispatcher of the Year. A Citizens Award and Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented.

Individuals who provided cardiac arrest resuscitation with return of a perfusing rhythm in 2003 will also receive the Resuscitation Award. In addition to the awards presentation, two local survivors will also share their personal stories of how their lives were saved during a medical emergency.

The awards banquet is held annually in May to tie in with National Emergency Medical Services Week. This year, EMS Week will be observed on May 16 - 22. It is a week devoted to honoring approximately 750,000 EMS providers nationwide.

This year’s theme, “EMS: There When You Need Us," focuses on the commitment and dedication of the EMS providers who provide an essential community service every day.
