You don’t have to be a former hospital or rehabilitation patient to enjoy the benefits of aquatic exercise! With our wellness aquatic therapy programs, you'll enjoy activity in an environment that provides both resistance and assistance to movement.

Aquatic therapy can decrease swelling, increase circulation, improve flexibility, and even strengthen and tone muscles. And because the water helps support your weight, you can exercise without putting undue stress on your joints. It’s a wonderful exercise option for people with back problems, arthritis, or joint replacements. It’s beneficial for expectant mothers as well.

Therapy takes place in our soothing 92-degree warm-water pool, which is equipped with a chair lift and handrails. Assistive devices like resistance paddles, barbells, and buoyancy belts are also available. Our certified water fitness instructors tailor classes to each individual and can help anyone start a new exercise program—no matter how long it’s been since your last workout.

Small classes provide gentle workouts in a fun, friendly environment. We offer seven unique aquatic physical therapy classes for people of all ages and ability levels, and the monthly cost is far less than the typical cable television bill.

Aquabasics
This class for all ability levels offers strength and flexibility components, as well as low-impact, light cardio sets, for a well-rounded workout.

Arthritis Aquatics
This class is offered in a group setting with an instructor certified by the Arthritis Foundation. A slow pace and warm water are used to promote flexibility and mobility. This class does not include cardiovascular or strength training.

Assisted Aquatics
This time is set aside for aquatic participants who require some assistance from a care provider in the water, on deck, and/or in the locker rooms. Care providers may get in the water to assist as needed at no additional charge. Our aquatic equipment will be available, and a lifeguard will be on duty.

Maintenance Swim
Our maintenance swim times are offered for those who wish to exercise and relax in the warm pool independently. Lifeguards are on duty at all times, and equipment is available.

Prenatal/Postnatal Swim
Gentle exercise in a gravity-reduced environment can help maintain or improve strength and flexibility as well as relax tired bodies. An instructor leads the class, but the level depends on you.

Toddler Aquatic Recreational Program:
This time is for our Tiny Tots (eighteen to thirty-six months) & Toddlers (thirty-seven months up to and including four years who have not had formal swimming lessons). This class provides group interaction, fun exercise, pre-swimming and safety skills. Registration is for a six-week session.

Total Joint Swim
This class is offered to those who have had a joint replacement or another corrective surgery. Instructors lead safe range-of-motion exercises primarily for the legs.

Please call 301-714-4025 or 4029 for member rates and the current schedule.
