A CT scan is an x-ray procedure that produces a series of "three dimensional" cross-sectional images of a selected part of your body. CT scan offers rapid and accurate evaluation of the entire body or specific anatomical regions, such as brain, orbits, abdomen, thorax, pelvis, etc. In some CT scan exams a contrast medium will be used to highlight certain internal structures. The contrast will be administered orally or intravenously.
