  Nursing at Washington County Hospital

Come join Washington County Hospital’s nursing team! Our nurses are fully committed to their patients and community. When nurses join Washington County Hospital they enter a team-oriented environment and if you ask one of the nurses here they will say that they plan on staying. Many nurses have been here for 15 or more years.

At our hospital you will experience a variety of benefits. Educational benefits include tuition reimbursement, free continuing education, certification reimbursement, clinical and administrative career advancement. Other benefits include reduced rate childcare at The Learning Center which is owned and operated by the hospital. This should provide a sense of security to you knowing that your children will be provided excellent care.

As a family-oriented hospital we recognize the difficulties in managing a nursing career as well as responding to family responsibilities. This is why we are flexible with our nurse’s schedules and allow nurses to participate in shared governance and self scheduling.

As part of a growing community we always need new nurses. There are nursing jobs available throughout our health system. We hire recent graduates to join our hospital team. Many of these graduates arrive from local and surrounding area colleges and universities. If you are a nurse with one or many years of experience we would be proud to have you as a part of our team as well.

Another reason to join our team is that we are on a Journey to Excellence! We have submitted an application for Magnet status and are committed to providing excellent care to our patients as well as an excellent work environment for our nurses. Our nursing administration and direct care nurses work together in a council structured environment to enhance decision making and increase staff satisfaction.

Our Vision
. . . is to be a dynamic force in the advancement of nursing practice and advocate for the promotion of quality healthcare for all.

Our Mission
. . . is to foster the development and advancement of nursing practice and to work to achieve quality healthcare for all.

Our Philosophy
We believe. . .

That excellence of care for patients and families matters most,
That superior customer service and constant innovation sustains excellence,
That quality patient care is measurable,
That evidenced-based practices result in optimal patient outcomes,
That fiscal responsibility ensures the ability to provide the best possible care,
That nursing leadership must utilize strategies to attract and retain individuals in healthcare roles,
That nurses know the healthcare needs of our community and implement plans to promote wellness, and
That most of all, the nursing care we provide matters.
