  Critical Incident Stress Management

A critical incident is a traumatic situation such as a death in the family, layoff, or severe injury that causes emotional responses that effect the person's ability to function at their normal level. Areas of life impacted can include social relationships, employment or school performance and family interactions.

Behavioral Health Services has professionals trained for rapid response to traumatic events with individual counseling or a formal Critical Incident Stress Debriefing for the group impacted by the event. This service is available on a fee-for-service basis, through Employee Assistance Program contracts or by special arrangement with BHS. Contact 800-635-2774 or 301-766-7624 for further information.
